Nowadays, auto theft is more than just a joyride in your car. Its big business and clever individuals have found multiple ways to steal cars. 1. Use common sense:

a. Lock your doors and remove your keys

b. Park in well lit areas

2. Install visible or audible devices such as:

a. alarm systems

b. window etching

c. wheel locks

3. Install a vehicle immobilizer such as:

a. smart keys

b. kill switch's

c. starter, and ignition immobilizers

4. Install a tracking system such as Pittsburgh GPS

What to Do If Your Car Is Stolen

To report a vehicle theft, contact the local municipality that it was stolen from. Log into AutoTraks and begin tracking your vehicle so you can relay its location to the officer. If applicable, you should place your car in the Auto Traks Stolen Mode If the service plan that you have chosen calls for minimal data transmissions, you have the ability to put your car in a stolen mode, enabling it to report its location every five minutes. If you your AutoTraks product has a Starter Interrupt Relay available and installed, you should enable it. This will not kill the engine while the vehicle is moving; it only disables the starter to keep the engine from starting again.
